1. General Admission & Booking

1.1 Pre-Booking Requirement

Visitors must pre-book tee times before playing at the club online via our official website wgcbury.co.uk, or third party platforms.

*During peak times, access may be limited and is subject to tee time availability. Priority will be given to members during particularly busy periods, and the visitor policy may be adjusted at short notice to reflect demand.

1.3 Green Fees & Payments
  • Payment may be settled by debit or credit card. For those booking via our online system, payment will be required upon booking immediately.
  • Tee Time bookings must be paid in full and payment must be received before accessing the course.
  • Full player details are required including name, email address and phone number. Any booking without these details may be refused access to the course, and no refunds will apply
  • For group bookings, a 20% deposit is required to secure the booking and tee times. The balance is required to be paid 14 days prior to the date of play.
  • Cash is not accepted.

2. Walk-In Policy

Walk-in visitors are welcome; however, tee times are subject to availability. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend pre-booking in advance.

Visitors arriving without a pre-booking will be directed to our online booking system to book the next available tee time using their own mobile device before play.

3. Visitor Access & Facilities

3.1 Car Park

Visitors are welcome to use our parking facilities on the day of play.

3.2 Locker Rooms

Visitors are permitted to use the club's locker room facilities on the day of play.

3.3 Green Fees

All visitors are subject to the applicable green fee rates as published on the club website.

4. Frequency of Play

There is no restriction on the number of times a visitor may play per year. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the course as often as they wish, subject to tee time availability.

5. Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • All bookings are non-refundable, except in cases where the course is closed due to adverse weather conditions.
  • We regret that we cannot offer refunds due to delayed/cancelled travel plans, personal injury or illness.
  • Pre-booked services such as refreshments, buggies, hire clubs that remain unused on the day will still be charged in full.
  • WGC Bury reserves the right to refuse play or cancel a booking without refund if players are unable to provide evidence of a valid WHS Handicap Index on arrival or, where requested, demonstrate a reasonable standard of golfing competence as determined by the Club Professional or an authorised member of staff.

6. Alteration of Booking

  • Subject to availability, tee times may be rescheduled to an alternative date at the clubs discretion within 30 days of the original booking.
  • If green fees have increased since the original booking, the visitor will be required to pay the difference in price.

7. Reduction in numbers

  • Groups can reduce the number of players up to two weeks before the day of play with no penalty. The total deposit paid will be applied to the balance for the remaining players.
  • If player numbers are reduced within 14 days of the scheduled date of play, the full balance for the cancelled player(s) will remain payable.

8. Adverse Weather Policy

  • If the course is closed due to adverse weather, visitors will be entitled to re-book their round for a later date (clause 6. Alteration of Booking terms apply).
  • If the course remains open but a visitor chooses not to play, no refund will be given.
  • Visitors will be notified via the banner on the website if course conditions change and are therefore encouraged to check the site for any updates.
  • WGC Bury will endeavour to contact visitors via email and/or phone if their tee time is affected.

9. Dress Code In The Clubhouse

Visitors are expected to maintain a smart-casual standard of dress in the clubhouse at all times.

9.1 Permitted Attire
  • Smart casual clothing, including tailored trousers, chinos, and smart jeans.
  • Collared shirts, polo shirts, or smart t-shirts.
  • Sweaters and hoodies may be worn, provided they are not overly casual in appearance.
  • Golf attire is permitted, provided it is clean and presentable.
  • Smart trainers, loafers, deck shoes, sandals or formal footwear.
  • Club-branded or golf-branded apparel is acceptable.
9.2 Not Permitted
  • Tracksuits and gym wear.
  • Cargo shorts.
  • Workwear, such as high-visibility vests or industrial clothing.
  • Dirty or excessively worn clothing.
  • Wet or muddy clothing.
  • Spiked golf shoes.

10. Course Rules & Etiquette

10.1 Tee Positions for Visitors

Visitors are permitted to play off all tee positions.

10.2 Pace of Play & Course Marshals

10.2.1 Maintaining Pace

  • Aim to complete 18 holes in under 4.5 hours.
  • Keep pace with the group ahead; allow faster groups to play through.
  • Be ready to play when it’s your turn. Continuous putting is encouraged where practical.

10.2.2 Marshal Authority

  • Course Marshals (typically the Club Pro) may:
    • Request proof of green fee purchase
    • Request faster play
    • Enforce rules
    • Direct players to repair damage
    • Ask individuals to leave the course for serious breaches
  • Failure to comply with Marshal instructions may result in disciplinary action.
10.3 Player Conduct & Courtesy

10.3.1 Respect for All

  • All players must treat members, guests, staff, and visitors with respect and courtesy.
  • Abusive or disruptive behaviour may lead to removal and disciplinary action.

10.3.2 On-Course Etiquette

●      Maintain appropriate noise levels and avoid distractions during others’ shots.

10.4 Course Care Responsibilities

10.4.1 Player Responsibilities

All players must take responsibility for maintaining the quality and playability of the course. This includes:

  • Divot Repair – Players must replace and press down divots or use the seed mix provided where available.
  • Bunker Raking – After playing from a bunker, players must rake the area they disturbed, ensuring a smooth surface for others. Rakes should be placed back in the designated areas, face down.
  • Pitch Mark Repair – Players must repair any pitch marks on greens using a proper repair tool.

10.4.2 Enforcement

Failure to follow course care responsibilities may result in a warning or further action by club officials.

10.5 Safety, Signage & Boundaries

10.5.1 Out of Bounds

Out-of-bounds areas are defined by local rules displayed physically on the course. Players mustadhere to all signage and local rule notices. Failure to comply may result in a permanent ban from theclub

10.5.2 Signage Compliance

Obey all course signage including:

  • No Entry, Trolley Restrictions, and Cart Path Only areas
  • Safety notices (e.g., blind shots, restricted zones)

10.5.3 Player Safety

Players must play safely and shout “FORE” when necessary. The Club accepts no liability for injuries caused by unsafe play.

10.5.4 Damage and Liability

Any damage to property, equipment, or facilities, whether intentional or accidental, shall be the full responsibility and liability of the golfer/visitor. The golfer/visitor agrees to indemnify and hold WGC Bury harmless against all costs, expenses, claims, or demands arising from such damage

10.6 Dress Code on the Course

Walmersley Golf Club embraces traditional golf attire while accommodating modern, appropriate golf wear. The dress code applies to all areas of the course, including practice greens and the driving range.The club encourages visitors to dress in a way that respects the traditions of golf while allowing for individual comfort and self-expression.

Acceptable Attire:

  • Collared shirts or modern alternatives
  • Tailored shorts, golf trousers, skorts
  • Athletic leggings (paired with suitable golf top)
  • Golf-appropriate outerwear including hoodies designed for golf
  • Golf shoes

Unacceptable Attire:

  • Football shirts, graphic tees, tank tops
  • Jeans, gym shorts, cargo shorts, beachwear
  • Clothing with offensive language or logos
10.7 Practice Areas
  • The main practice area is available during course open hours, unless booked for lessons.
  • On the Putting/Chipping Greens, a maximum of three balls is recommended.
  • All aids and balls must be collected after use.
10.8 Buggies & Trolleys

10.8.1 Buggies

  • With approval and weather permitting, year-round use is permitted for visitors with medical needs.
  • April–October: Buggies may be booked for social rounds, weather permitting.
  • Must follow designated routes and avoid tees, greens, bunkers.
  • October–April: Use restricted to medically approved users only.

10.8.2 Trolleys

  • Manual and electric trolleys permitted year-round, weather permitting.
  • Must stay off tees, greens, and bunkers, and follow paths near 12th, 15th, and 16th greens.
10.9 Course Maintenance & Play Rules

10.9.1 Maintenance

All players must actively maintain course conditions (divots, tees, pitch marks, bunkers).

10.9.2 Lost Balls

Limit searches to 3 minutes. Keep pace and let faster groups play through.

10.9.3 GUR & No Play Zones

  • Relief is optional from GUR, but mandatory from No Play Zones.
  • Relief must be taken within one club length of the nearest point of full relief.
  • Temporary Local Rules may define drop zones.

11. Arrival

On the day Visitors should check-in for their round at the Bari in the Clubhouse to collect their visitor bag tag and hshow proof of their valid WHS handicap or provide details on competency before accessing the course

12. Use of Facilities

  • Access to the clubhouse, bar, restaurant, visitor locker rooms, and practice areas is permitted on the day of play.
  • Additional charges apply for trolley hire, buggy hire and club hire.

13. Rental Agreement & Liability Waiver

By hiring any rental item, you acknowledge that you are renting equipment from WGC Bury and agreeto the following terms:

  • You confirm that the selected equipment has been received in good working condition.
  • You accept full responsibility for the care, proper use, and timely return of all rented items. Expected return times are approximately 2.5 hours for 9 holes and 4.5 hours for 18 holes.
  • You agree to pay for any equipment that is lost, stolen, or returned damaged. Charges will bebased on the cost of repair or the full replacement value where applicable.
  • You acknowledge that misuse, negligence, or failure to return any rental item may result inadditional charges and may lead to a permanent ban from WGC Bury.
  • All rental items must be returned to the bar.
  • You accept full liability for any rental items not returned on the day of hire, including items leftout overnight..

14. Non-Playing Guest Policy

14.1 Non-Playing Guests:

Non-playing guests are welcome but must be signed in at the Pro Shop upon arrival. Each playing visitor may bring one non-playing guest (1:1 ratio).

15. Alcohol, Smoking & Drugs

  • Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed on-site in designated areas, in accordance with licensing laws. Bringing personal alcohol onto the premises is not permitted.
  • Smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated areas and are strictly prohibited indoors and on the course.
  • The possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances on the premises is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate removal and potential legal action.

16. Privacy & Data Protection

  • Children aged 17 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times (1:1 ratio).
  • An exception applies if the child holds a handicap of 24 or lower, in which case they may play without adult supervision.
  • Juniors under the age 11, regardless of handicap, must always be supervised by an adult.

By making a booking, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed in accordance with the WGC Bury Privacy Policy, which is available on our website.

16. Disciplinary Actions & Rights of Refusal

Non-members, including guests and visitors, are expected to adhere to the Club’s Visitor Terms and Conditions, rules and regulations while on the premises. Any failure to do so may result in immediate removal from the club and potential restrictions on future access.

16.1 Misconduct by non-members includes, but is not limited to:

  • Disruptive, abusive, or offensive behaviour towards staff, members, or other visitors.
  • Failure to comply with these terms and conditions, club policies, including dress code and etiquette standards.
  • Damage to club property or facilities.
  • Unauthorised use of the course or facilities, including playing without a valid tee-time booking.
  • Possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances on club premises.
  • Any action that poses a safety risk to others.

16.2 Immediate Action

Club management or staff have the authority to take immediate action if a non-member is found in violation of club rules. This may include:

  • A verbal warning.
  • Being asked to leave the premises immediately.
  • Being denied future entry to the club.

16.3 Formal Disciplinary MeasuresIn cases of serious misconduct, the Club reserves the right to take further action, which may include:

  • Issuing a formal written notice banning the individual from the premises.
  • Reporting the incident to relevant authorities, if necessary.

16.4 Appeals

Non-members who have been subject to formal disciplinary action may submit a written appeal to the Club’s General Manager within 10 business days of receiving notice of the action. Appeals will be reviewed by club management, and a final decision will be communicated in writing. The club’s decision on appeals is final.
