The Club Begins
Walmersley Golf Club was founded in 1906, when demand for the game exceeded the facilities available at Bury Golf Club in Redvales. Land was selected across several farms, forming the foundations of the course we know today, with early holes laid out across what are now key parts of the front and back nine.

Growth and Development
The club flourished over the following decades, developing both the course and clubhouse. Originally known as an “excellent nine holes,” the course was shaped and maintained largely by members themselves, who also constructed the original access road — laying the foundations for the club’s strong community spirit.

Expanding to 18 Holes
As the club grew, additional land was acquired at Broomses Farm, allowing for expansion. A full 18-hole course opened in 1995, with further development in the late 1990s leading to the extended par 71 layout opening in 2009.
